• Lublin University of Technology has been fundamentally bound with Lublin city and Lubelskie province for over 55 years. The University represents educational centre and technical counsel within the Region. As a result, the importance of the LUT is systematically increasing.
• The profile of the education is being adapted to needs of the labour market.
• At present, there are six Faculties of the Lublin University of Technology with 14 main study courses and almost 50 specializations.

The University represents educational centre and technical counsel within the Region. As a result, the importance of the LUT is systematically increasing. Through active participation in social and economic life, integration and culture creation, the University plays an integrative and cultural role in society. In the academic year 2010/2011 it is planned to open, altogether with Medical University of Lublin, a new study course, namely Biomedical Engineering.

Furthermore, each study course consists of several specializations covering broad spectrum of students’ interests.

For the academic year 2009/2010, LUT gained in the Operational Programme Human Capital, funds for education within ordered study courses of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education: building engineering, technological physics, information technology, environmental engineering, mathematics.

Secondary school graduates who chose one of the course studies listed above, will get a chance to obtain a monthly scholarship in amount of 1000 PLN in three years of study.

Moreover, the accession of Poland to the European Union enabled the University to take most of practical and economic advantages. The University implements European grants in the field of academic teachers’ advancement, doctoral studies, expert trainings addressed to industry staff, the growth of research base and investment.

From the moment of establishment the Lublin University of Technology has registered over 100-times increase of the students’ number and offered modern and very useful specializations and courses. For all students wishing to broaden horizons also abroad, the University has an interesting offer. International scientific cooperation within the European Union is based mainly on active participation in the 7th Framework Programme.

Cooperation in the field of education, between the University and its partners in the group of EU members, EFTA Member States and Turkey, is established mainly on the assumptions of LLP-Erasmus Programme - crucial to the whole process. International cooperation outside the European Union runs in compliance with provisions of Bilateral Agreements signed between Lublin University of Technology and scientific units from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, San Marino, Switzerland, Japan, Australia, China, India, Israel and the USA.

The number and artistic level (often professional) of the LUT students’ music, dance and theatre groups is quite phenomenal among other technical universities.

At present there are more than 40 scientific research groups. Their goals are to conduct scientific research, to exchange experience and improve the level of students’ knowledge.

Students can realise their hobbies and interests participating in several artistic groups such as Dance Group “Gamza”, Modern Dance Group, Folk Dance Group, Academic Choir and other different music groups. Those groups act in aid of the university, city and region adding splendour to important cultural events. They also represent the LUT abroad.

“Plagiat” is a magazine, edited by students in the University. The magazine is where students share their hobbies, successes and opinions. Moreover, it provides their community with important and interesting information.

The Student Culture Initiative StuArt functions satisfactorily and with a great success in the areas of culture dissemination among students. This association also helps artists to organize concerts, expositions, exhibitions and artists’ meetings (evenings).

Academic Sport Society (AZS) is also an important element of the LUT’s activities. In 28 different sport sections there are 850 members. Scuba Diving Club “Paskuda”, Kick-Boxing Club, Yacht Club, Seans-Haczyk Club and Historical Fencing are also very popular place of students’ integration.

Student Photo Society organizes competitions of photographic open air sessions and a variety of trainings. Members of SPS are prized with prestigious awards while national photographic contests.

The Student Career Office is at all students disposal, it offers a free assistance to the students and graduates of our university with the choice of their professional career, it offers professional counselling, it collects job offers, information about employers and situation on the job market.

Financial help for full-time students is assigned according to regulations which indicate circumstances, kinds, assignment and payment conditions of these financial help scholarships. Students are allowed to apply for different kinds of financial help. Lublin University of Technology offers 1200 accommodation places in 4 Student Residence Halls.

Faculties Board of Deans (3 faculties) are entitled to honour scientific degrees of doctor (DSc.) (technical sciences), modules: construction and operating the machinery, building engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering and mechanics. Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Faculty Boards may honour the scientific degree of Ph.D., modules: construction and operating machinery and electrical engineering.
