Vilnius Co-operative College was established in September 2000 on the basis of former Vilnius Higher Cooperative School. Its predecessor Kaunas School of Economics founded in 1930 was transferred to the Union of Lithuanian Consumer Cooperatives in 1945. Therefore, this educational institution is one of the oldest economic schools in Lithuania.
Having assessed the quality of studies in the college in 1999 the Ministry of Education and Science and Department of Studies and Learning Quality Assessment declared Vilnius Co-operative College one of the best private colleges in Lithuania.
Business managers, information managers, accountants for private companies and state enterprises or other organizations are prepared at the college.
The newly prepared study programs were well-evaluated by competent commissions from the Ministry of Education and Science, universities and employers' organizations.
The College has also gained experience in implementation of national and international projects and strives to adapt European dimension to all the activities.
Importantly, VCC participates in international projects under Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci and Grundvig programmes, most of them concerning student placements and exchange abroad, creation of new study methodologies and didactics, and professional needs. The College has experience in high-qualified research, carrying out analysis, organizing seminars, meetings and conferences on the research subject areas and international co-operation.
The College pays a lot of attention to the development of students’ general competencies such as team work, decision making, entrepreneurship, information management, which are necessary in studies, work and life in European multicultural environment. Development of general competencies is based on experiential learning.
Apart from a well-developed co-operation with Vilnius University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Mykolas Romeris University, Kaunas Technical University and Lithuanian colleges, VCC has close relationships and collaborates with educational institutions abroad.
Students of VCC can study full time (duration of studies – 3 years), and part time (duration of studies – 4 years). Secondary school graduates are eligible to enter the College. 180 ECTS make up the study programmes.
College graduates receive Professional Bachelor’s degree and professional qualification (Professional Bachelor’s Diploma) acknowledged by the state. All College graduates are provided with Diploma Supplements.
