Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz is a dynamically developing school of higher education, today the largest in the city and the second largest in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province, both as for number of professors, number of majors and educational forms offered and the number of students and graduates.
Over 700 academic staff members share their knowledge, including about 150 professors, with over 60 professors titular. Today a rich educational range of studies covers 21 majors at three levels: bachelor and bachelor in engineering, master and doctoral studies. The university also provides over 30 postgraduate courses, developing qualifications and conferring new rights. Step by step new majors are approved by the State Accreditation Committee.
Over the last few years our University has offered education to about 5 thousand newly admitted students annually. At the beginning of the present decade the total number of students was about 21 thousand. Only 1/3 of all students live in Bydgoszcz, with its population of about 400 thousand, and over 20% of students come from outside the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province. Kazimierz Wielki University has a greater and greater impact on the region and the surrounding provinces.
Since 1997, when the Senate of the then WSP passed a resolution on academic and research staff enhancement as well as on developing humanities majors and accelerating the development of mathematical and natural sciences, which would facilitate the conversion into a university, the University has doubled its scientific and teaching potential as well as its infrastructure. Contrary to other Polish cities which, while creating a new university, combined the potential of different schools of higher education, our University has walked, on its own and in a relatively short time, quite a long way to convert from a teacher training school to a multi-profile university of humanities and natural sciences. We are the 18th youngest multi-profile university in Poland. We are aware of a multitude of tasks to be completed. In years to come, today’s UKW will become stable in the Polish multi-profile university rankings. Professors at our University, however, have shown themselves to be determined and effective in their pursuits. They are credible! Kazimierz Wielki University is the youngest wide profile University in Poland.
It was established on the 1st September 2005 but the 40 years history and tradition stands behind it.
We offer 30 courses and dozens of specializations at 1st and 2nd degree studies. All of students can take the advantage of the scholarship offer (science, special, sport). We also prepared over 60 places in dormitories. They are situated in the centre of the city, with the Internet access. The special camp is organized every year for 1st year students.
What you are going to do after classes? It's up to you! We offer the possibility to join the student organizations, sport classes, cultural activities.
We also opened new specializations, adapting to the changing job market: material engineering, safety engineering, mechatronics and English and Arabic language studies as well as the cultural and social animation.

Students Life
Studies mark one of the greatest periods in the lives of young people and studying is the time of acquiring knowledge and the time of mental and attitude development. However, those serious pursuits cannot go without the essence of life in the academic community which facilitates personal fulfillment in another way, in many areas of activity, e.g. as an activity in scientific groups and in numerous organizations and associations addressed to students.
The activity in study groups is an opportunity to develop academic interests. The groups run their own research, organize conferences and seminars, both domestic and international, hold meetings with scientists and artists, publish journals, and participate in scientific sessions held by other academic centers in Poland. Taking up studies, why not join a study group to build up your knowledge and acquire skills sharing the same interests with others? Learning together less formally can complement your coursework.

UKW
Student Government is made up of all university students and it is the only representation of all the students of the University. The Student Government is elected by students every two years. Representatives of the Government participate in the work of collegiate bodies of the University: the Senate, Senate Committees and Faculty Councils. Interestingly, the Student Government represents UKW students in the Student Parliament of the Republic of Poland and thus the needs of our students are considered by decision-making bodies defining Poland’s higher education. Becoming active in the student government serves the student community, however it is also a good school for those who wish to be part of local government in the future as well as those who wish to be active in politics.
Academic Volunteer Centre.
Why not become a volunteer? The Academic Volunteer Centre is an organization which can help you help others. It is the Centre which organizes famous ‘gatherings of vampires’ (wampiriada – blood donor sessions) and cooperates with international organizations, e.g. UNICEF. And this is how student’s helping hands can reach the needy not only at home but all around the world. Charity work is also organized by other student and employee groups of our University. Why not join one of them?

Bydgoszcz is 400 thousand metropolis, capital of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie located at the mouth of the river Brda and the Vistula , is one of the largest economic centers in Poland.
Modernity and openness of the city’s residents decided to include a training center in Bydgoszcz, NATO troops called in shorts the JFTC.
It’s impossible to look at the economic potential of the city, it’s diversity without paying attention to the importance of its development. Particularly evident in the examples preserved locks of the Canal Bydgoszcz and wonderful objects of industrial construction.
Gem are undoubtedly those locks, which are unique in the world examples of hydraulic equipment. A canal built in the late eighteenth century, recalls with a rich history that it was in city life and Poland.
Because of combined the river system of Western Europe from the river system in Eastern Europe. Currently, efforts are made to channel as a masterpiece of technique inland in the near future to enter the list of UNESCO World Heritage.
River transport has become flywheel the city’s economy in previous centuries and today one can admire the number preserved examples of industrial buildings associated with water. In particular, many relics of the old Bydgoszcz, survived in the city center. Do not miss the Mill Island. Few in Europe, is so charming places in the city. The scenic beauty of the location of Mill Island stress reflected in Brda eighteenth and nineteenth century facade of granaries, mills Rothera which are the indelible memory of the city several centuries.
The richness and creativity of then “patrician” reflects an eclectic buildings that wonderful fronton ornamentation talk about specific weaknesses of Bydgoszcz builders from the late nineteeth and early twentieth to the secession. So go walk along downtown streets of Gdańska, Cieszkowskiego, Mickiewicza, stop in front of the hotel “The Eagle” and building editor of “Gazeta Wyborcza”.
Inspiration in architecture goes hand in hand with the music that plays not only in concert halls Philharmonic, Opera, Music Academy, but also in music clubs, streets, squares. “ A musical atmosphere” of the city emphasizes unmatched anywhere else “ district music”: The Pomeranian Philharmonic, Music Academy, Music School and park them. Kochanowski where in the shade of old trees standing majestically sculptures of eminent composers.
