Jan Dlugosz University in Częstochowa has been established on 1st of October,2004. It has been transformed from Higher Pedagogical School into Academy.
However, the history of it has started in 1971 when the Ministry of Education created Higher Education School for Teachers, next in 1974 it was changed into Higher Education Pedagogical School. Since then, Jan Dlugosz University in Częstochowa has been developed and grew regulary.
Currently, the University consists of 5 Faculties: Faculty of Philology and History, Faculty of Mathematics and Nature Sciences, Faculty of Art Education, Faculty of Social Sciences. There are also other units such as: Foreign Languages Centre, Physical Education and Sport Centre.
We are proud of our storehouse of knowledge - The Main Library which consists of
around 300 000 books, newspapers, documents and other units from special collection.
The academic employees have also an opportuntiy to publish their researching thanks to the publishing house at our University. It is well known not only in our region but
also in other parts of Poland and Europe. We take part in the best books trades in Poland and Europe. Currently, we offer 21 specializations, 10 of them are master studies and 11 for Bachelor ones. Our University also gives the title of PhD at Faculty of History (stationary and non- stationary studies). We also try to get the acceptance for possibility to grant PhD at other faculties.
Jan Dlugosz University in Częstochowa conducts Postgraduate Studies, moreover there are over 9 000 students at both stationary and non- stationary courses. Moreover, 44 000 graduates left the University in 1973-2009 period of time.
Jan Dlugosz University also popularizes the education among older people- the
University of third Age- over 600 listeners take the advantage of its existence every year. Our University employs around 500 academic teachers: 130 of them are independent researchers, additionally around 130 people from administration area.
The Planetarium has also been built- it is equipped with modern apparatus.
Furthermore, the University Base has been enlarging day by day: good example for it can be modern Sport Academic Centre opened in September 2008.
A lot of sport events and competitions are organized there. Secondly, the Lecture Hall of Faculty of Social Sciences has been built and prepared for classes in November 2009 (located in Armii Krajowej 13/15).
Modern Auditorium (cost 3,25 mln PLN), provides an opportunity to organize concerts, lectures, film festivals and Theatre groups performances. The Aula’s capacity is around 300 people, moreover – there is a plan for building special Facility for Faculty of Social Sciences needs. It is going to be located nearby Zgierskiego St. and Armii Krajowej St.
In our prospect, we also consider managing and organizing the area for entertainment, relax and cultural needs of our students. That wonderful field, full of green which will provide a possibility for leisure might be the best visit card of Czestochowa.
The significant element of each University Clasification is the level of International Cooperation. In that case, our University can be proud of great and wide experience.
Academic Sport has been also developing: our students take part in the competitions, organized both in Częstochowa and other Centres in Poland.
This is the best way to promote healthy lifestyle, not only a chance for gaining prizes and awards. Our students are classified in many rankings of Pedagogical and Humanistic Universities in Poland.
We are also focused on observing the changes in Poland and Europe in terms of job market needs. According to this perception, we try to adjust our education offer to these issues.
That is the reason for creating new education systems, establishing the international cooperation with Western countries as well as Eastern ones.
We also make an effort to enrich our achievements in order to become Public University in the nearest future.

Student programs
Jan Dlugosz University in Częstochowa takes part in Students Exchange Programme LLP - Erasmus (Lifelong Learning Programme- „Uczenie się przez całe życie”).
Erasmus is a programme where several International Universities cooperate with each other. It is dedicated to both students and emplopyees, its aim is improving the education quality as well as developing the international cooperation and communication between Universities.
Supporting the students and University’s Employees mobility is also the purpose of this useful programme.
