The State School of Higher Professional Education in Konin

The State School of Higher Professional Education in Konin has been established according to the resolution of Council of Ministers from 16th of June 1998. The principles of its existence defines the resolution about Higher education from 27th of July 2005. Stationery studies are free of charge, the graduates get the bachelor's degree, in case of Technical studies - engineer’s degree. The qualifications obtained give them higher education degree and possibility to apply for master studies.

The State School of Higher Professional Education in Konin has got the second place in 10th jubilee ranking of the higher education Schools (2009), prepared by Educational Magazine „Perspektywy”. What does this tell us? It shows the high quality of education and professional academic teachers who try their best to provide knowledge and practice. Furthermore, the State School of Higher Professional Education got the third position in 5th edition of Higher Education Institutions ranking (the category: Public Schools, Vocational Studies) organized by Academic Information Centre. This special ceremony was held on 26th May 2009 in Poznan.

The State School of Higher Professional Education in Konin(PWSZ) is beneficiary of the European Union Programme Erasmus. The Erasmus Card for 2007-2013 period of time, gives the chance to apply for subsidy of studies abroad and fabulous internships. It is based on partnership with other Colleges and Universities, such as: Mit Sweden University, Fachhochschule Emden/Leer, Hochschule Merseburg, University in Bielefeld and School of Business and Management in Novo Mesto (Slovenia).

Our College also cooperates with University in Briansk, College for Modern Business Studies in Hungary, Instituto Politechnica de Braganca and Instituto Politechnica de Portalegre in Portugal. The most popular places to go for Erasmus exchange are: Ondokuz Mayis University, Seldzuk Uniwersity and Mersin University in Turkey.

PWSZ had been cooperating with University In Salerno (Italy), moreover our Tourism and Recreation students have an opportunity to go for an internship to Greece. Modern languages students can also attend the special methodical and culture seminar in Povenden.

SIFE programme (Student’s enterpreneurship) provides with experience in project management concerning local sociality. It is dedicated mainly to students of economy.

The essence of its activity is promoting the economic awareness, support in understanding the market reality, as well as learning how to deal with it practically.

SIFE members had been representing Poland in the finals of SIFE contest, which took place in Paris (2006).

About City

Konin is located in the middle part of Poland. Furthermore, the Konin’s suburbs are significant for communication, connecting north and south part of Poland as well as east and west together. Konin has always been the point where two main trade routes met. As a symbol, boundary marker from XII century which used to demarcate the half way from Konin to Kruszwica, still stands proudly in the centre of the city.

Over a span of time, the population of Konin was regularly increasing- in 1950 there were 12 145 citizens, 10 years later- 17,638, in 1970- 40,744 people and finally in 1998- 83,5 thousand of citizens. This intense population growth caused fast spacial development of Konin. This city absorbed a lot of villages, even these one which were quite distant from the city centre. Currently, the area of Konin is 82 square kilometres.

Moreover, the urban conception, accepted in 50’s, caused that Konin was divided into two independent parts by Warta’s valley.

Konin is important administration centre and the capital of region since 1975, as well as the residence and capital of grodzki’s district (since 01.01.1999 according to the government reform). At the same time, it is the centre of political and social life, growing dynamically and influencing the Eastern Great Poland.

Music City Club

This club is located in Konin’s Culture Centre. It offers two air-conditioned halls for over 150 guests.It is open every day afternoon till the late evening. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are dedicated to the newests trends in world music, presented by DJ’s. We also organize jazz blues, rock and folk concerts in summer time.

„Step by Step” Recruitment

If you would like to apply, please fill in the application form available on our website and print it. Then, print the registration fee payment proof. Candidates have a possibility to register on-line from 1st of June 2010 (entering „Recruitment on-line”overlay).

Both documents should be submitted in Recruitment Office, where every candidate will receive a special number. In case of courses where medical certificate is obligatory, it should be submitted with the rest of documents. Remaining documents, including secondary school graduation certificate, should be submitted after closing the recruitment process in particular Institutes.

III

After closing the recruitment process, the Department Commissions will publish the list of people being accepted for studies. However, these future students has to complete the necessary documents such as:

1. Secondary school graduation certificate (original) and General Certificate of Secondary Education Medical Certification (if it is obligatory)
2. 4 Photos
3. ID Photocopy
4. Olympic certificate (in case of candidates who had been accepted according to these achievements)
5. Declaration of chosen Physical Education Course

All these documents must be submitted in order to be registered as a 1st year student.
